Have you ever wanted to know what the future holds for you? Perhaps you’re about to sit for a test and desire to know your professional future i.e., the career you’ll pursue; the company you’ll join. Perhaps you’re single and want to find out your marital status in ten years. Perhaps your parents are ill and you want to discover the state of their health in five years. These are the most pressing questions about the future in people’s minds. A market has always existed to supply the answers. A thriving, buoyant industry that provides predictions and forecasts on an array of subjects ranging from life questions to horse racing. The most popular field that’s centred on prediction in astrology.

Astrology is the science of predicting the future of one’s life. Its basis is a numerological system that feeds off the movements of celestial bodies such as stars and planets. Several astrological pedagogies are prevalent worldwide. In the typical astrological genre, a prediction is derived using personal inputs such as time and place of birth. Thereafter, life outcomes are generated using recorded data on the motion of stars and planets. There are many people who live in fear and trepidation due to these prophecies. They are afraid that someday they’d be robbed of life, limb or liberty. These individuals become so terrified of the future that they shroud their existence in a constant cloak of fear and anxiety. Naturally, misery follows them everywhere. Notwithstanding your belief in astrological predictions, there’s no reason to fear them.

Astrology is concerned with delivering outcomes; not emotions. In other words, a typical forecast will say that you’ll attain a pot of wealth in five years. But, it won’t tell you if you’ll be happy or unhappy. This is because the outcome isn’t a choice, but happiness is. This is a hugely significant point!

While our destiny is pre-determined – our state of being (internal mindset, intentions) is our own volition. We have no control over the acquisition or loss of wealth. However, we can choose how to perceive and react to it. Here’s an example of the state of being of two people – A and B – after they became unexpectedly wealthy.

A looks at his newly-minted wealth with lust and wants to hoard even more for his personal consumption. He can afford a penthouse apartment in a prime residential neighbourhood. Yet, he’d like to upgrade to a bungalow so that he can showcase his achievements.

In contrast, B views her fortune as a golden opportunity to house the downtrodden in her city. She experiences happiness by sharing her wealth with others.

The mindset of the first individual is selfish. The mindset of the second – selfless.

A’s mindset would eventually repel people with positive intentions, but attract the opportunistic and the cunning. Sensing their greed, he would try to protect himself with various security mechanisms. Even though he may safeguard…perhaps even grow his wealth…the mental pressure of constantly watching over his shoulder would turn him fearful and anxious. Subsequently, his satisfaction levels would deplete.

B, on the other hand, would spread love through her actions. Her deeds would be spoken of far and wide. She would unite people in a positive energy chain and benefit continually from it.

In the examples, the life satisfaction levels of the two individuals differ markedly – despite identical outcomes in wealth. What if the opposite had occurred: A and B experiencing grave misfortune and losing their wealth? Here too, their mindset – and not the outcome – would determine their state of happiness.

Because destiny is pre-written and shapable, certain outcomes of life such as nationality, family, race, health are set before birth. We select these boundary conditions of life in our previous birth in order to remove barriers and accelerate the growth of consciousness. The role of astrology is to report these occurrences like an information feed. Then, it’s up to us to use the events as a springboard to evolution or as a slippery slope to degeneration. Astrology may provide data on our future; but it won’t shed light on how we’ll feel and subsequently, react. It can’t alter the most durable and unchanging fact about the universe. Suffering affects the body; not you.

To sum up, there’s no reason to fear a negative astrological prediction…even if it were to come to pass…even if you were to find yourself in a sticky scenario; suffering tremendous pain. Even in such a horrendous, calamitous situation, you can maintain a positive outlook and transcend your suffering. You must overcome your fear of pain.

Pain is necessary for self-improvement. It’s an opportunity to grow your consciousness to higher levels. The greater the pain; the greater this opportunity. Don’t shy away from it. Embrace it courageously and passionately.
